Parenting After Abuse
Protective Parenting

1 hour class, once weekly, 20 weeks

Parenting After Abuse was developed by Pamela Riggs LPCC. Each session is designed to address particular issues surrounding parentings skills and creating a healthy parent/child relationship.

Specifically addressing child abuse/neglect and Mental Health/Behavioral issues in parents and children, which hinder this relationship. Each session also offers parenting education with a emphasis on skills and interaction adjustment, which may be necessary due to a child's special needs/ developmental stage, abuse/neglect, and/or removal from home. Healthy sustainable discipline within the home is also addressed. The program also enables clients to address their own accountability, recognize his/her own strengths, limitations, and weaknesses in creating and maintaining a consistent, loving environment for the family and always putting child safety and care first.

MRT Protective Parenting

1 hour, once weekly, 12 weeks

Moral Reconation Therapy Protective Parenting is a curriculum that focuses on creating opportunities for participants to enhance their parenting practices and behaviors; to provide safe nurturing environments; promoting healthy child development; utilizing proven therapy along with the MRT workbook.

The class will focus on developing positive discipline skills, identifying signs of child abuse, understanding child developmental stages, the importance of positive play in developing child parent attachment, implementing healthy values and stress management. In addition, parents will gain insight and self-awareness into the impact of traumas, past and present, including abuse, neglect, and substance abuse have on child development and a parent's ability to promote safe nurturing environments; preventing abuse/neglect.
